Reach out and give the leather thong of the bell a quick side to side. As the bell hums, sense the vibrations moving outward from their origin, just like ripples move after a pebble is tossed into a still body of water. Resonance. Can you feel it? Native Americans believe that the spiral represents our never-ending journey. Like the pebble, we are dropped into this life, and like the ripples, we move out from our beginning
It’s no wonder we derive significance when we hear a bell or sit quietly by a body of water. Our very lives mirror their vibrations. The spiral is seen throughout nature. We live in a spiral galaxy; our planet circles the sun while spinning on its axis; sunflowers, pinecones, sea shells, even our DNA, are in the shape of a spiral.
Whether it’s the echo of the bell, the gurgling of the water, or the sacred symbolism, I hope my artwork will find resonance within all who experience it. Slow down, take a minute and reflect, and enjoy this part of your journey.
